You might have read/heard already that Albus Dumbledore is gay! Here is the news:

"In front of a full house of hardcore Potter fans at Carnegie Hall in New York, Rowling, sitting on the stage on a red velvet and carved wood throne, read from her seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," then took questions. One fan asked whether Albus Dumbledore, the head of the famed Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, had ever loved anyone. Rowling smiled. "Dumbledore is gay, actually," replied Rowling as the audience erupted in surprise. She added that, in her mind, Dumbledore had an unrequited love affair with Gellert Grindelwald, Voldemort's predecessor who appears in the seventh book. After several minutes of prolonged shouting and clapping from astonished fans, Rowling added. "I would have told you earlier if I knew it would make you so happy." "

You're Inherit the Wind!

by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee

To you, the learning process is inherently about controversy. If
people aren't having their minds stretched, how could they possibly be learning? This
makes you a good but unpopular teacher, and the people around you are ready to make it
a federal case. All you're asking them to do is evolve a little. But they would like
you to be more creative. You would make an excellent lawyer, even though people think
you love monkeys.

Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.

I don't know that book. And despite some of that description being me - hey I'm not an unpopular teacher!!! (at least not with people who're using and stretching their mind!!!!)

TransConference 2007 in Munich
Mund
[info]tobatia
This year will be the first ever TransConference in Munich (usually this kinda stuff only takes place in Berlin or Cologne)! *tatataaaaaa*

http://www.vivats.de/termine/Transgendertagung/html

in case anyone is interested in participating!!! (I will be involved in the workshop on "partners of transpeople". The meeting will be in German, but in case of participants without command of the german language, we could probably organize translation.

Curiosity makes me do this... and vanity.. ;-)

intellectual gender input needed!!!!!
Auge
[info]tobatia
Dear sophisticated (power)femmes, butches, transpeople and whoever....

1st ....can you recommand (or at least suggest) me any books/articles about femme as gender, femme as transgender, etc? Something like J. Halberstamm#s research, but for and on femininity?

2nd .....is there anything like "femme as gender" for queer males? uebermale as own gender? any input on this?

Backgroud: I am looking for all kinds of gender to widen, stress, enlarge, add genders to the "usual" bunch(femme, woman, butch, TG (here used as the "garden variety trans" (please, don't be offended - I just don't know how to put it without too many words....), transman, man).

All kind of input in english/german/spanish/french is welcome!!! :-) Thanks!!!

transsexuals can get gender-change in passport without surgery!!! yay!
Mund
[info]tobatia
There seems to be a new regulation in Germany, concerning the TSG (law on transsexuality): When you had your first name changed according to this law, you can get a passport stating the gender, which is not the one in your birth certificate! Yay! Up to now, it was only possible to get a passport with the new name, but the gender would still be the old one... So now, transsexuals are able to travel again outside Europe! To change the birth certificate, its still required to have some kine of sterilizing surgery (i.e. hysterectomy for FtM). But even that is supposed to be changed... we'll see!

As I did not yet see the new regulation, and don't know anyone who got the changed passport, I am still careful with my enthusiasme and say ... "there sees to be"... but I hope its true and working!!!

Yesterday evening I experienced the first time a soccer match live, in a huge stadion, the new Arena in Munich. It was a local derby, a friendly match(?) of two Munich clubs (1860 Lions again FC Bavaria Munich). The Lions are playing second or third league, while FC is first league and German master. But the Lions won 3:0 - it was really fun, the atmosphere was great and I really enjoyed being there! Actually, this was the christmas present for my godson, from 1 1/2 years ago... uhm... well, better laten than never. And he, his grandfather (my uncle - who got an invitation for a match in the new stadion from his siblings as one of the presents for his 70th b-day last year), and me really enjoyed the evening!

I never thought that a soccer match could be that much fun!!!

I like that....

your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | LIGHT

Your humor has an intellectual, even conceptual slant to it. You're not pretentious, but you're not into what some would call 'low humor' either. You'll laugh at a good dirty joke, but you definitely prefer something clever to something moist.

You probably like well-thought-out pranks and/or spoofs and it's highly likely you've tried one of these things yourself. In a lot of ways, yours is the most entertaining type of humor because it's smart without being mean-spirited.

once in a while

Its week number 9 in the new company, and week number 2 of really training people. Last week I gave a nice three-day course with just three participants. It went great and was fun. This week, I gave a four-day course with 12 participants... hard work! The guys were really nice and appreciated my work and my way of doing things, but it was really tough, cause the equipment didn't work as supposed. On monday morning, an hour before the course started, I got a new software version, with just one comment about changes. When I open the software, I realizsed about 4 other changes (new menues, submenues, etc), but didn't know if they were only graphically implemented or really functional! HOrror! On Wedensday night I got new serial cables to connect the labtop to the equipment - with worked fine while testing it on my own, but didn't work at all when I wanted to do it with the course the next morning... And so on...

But its over, it went well, the grades they gave me as their trainer were great - so I'm satified, but tired. I am just now preparing the course for next week - same course. Just better, hopefully.

My ear isn't better at all. It turned out that it actually is an acute hearing-loss of low frequences. The missing low-frequenz feedback causes the tin-like echo on all higher frequences, that I am hearing. I hope that a quiet and stress-free weekend will help some. I will start the weekend today with some book- and cosmetics shopping (bodyshop mango body butter.. yum! and cocoa bean bath oil....). Perhaps a japanese noodle-soup in my absolut fav fast-food restaurant.... And then home and not moving anywhere anymore! As it is snowing without break, I might go for a nice snow-walk (with or without snowshoes) on saturday or sunday, but without effort and stress, just for the plesure...
